Miah Cronin
Club Captain 2017-18
Firstly I’d like to say how delighted I am to be chosen as Club Captain for the 2017/18 Season.

Having been involved as a player with Highfield for over 10 years at this stage, it is truly an honour to lead the squad for the coming season.

We are hoping to continue with the successes of recent years, and in particular we are focused on gaining promotion into the ranks of the First Division if at all possible.

We know we have a hard task ahead of us, but I believe we have the right squad and management in place to help us to achieve this goal.

I would like to acknowledge and commend the current squad, who have been playing together for the past number of years, for their commitment and dedication, and I know each and every one of them will step up to the mark on behalf of the club again this year.

It is a huge honour for myself and especially for my family to see me as Captain leading the Highfield Senior team on to the field this season, and I am confident that given the team spirit that exists within the squad currently, we will prove to be a competitive and tough team for the all opposition teams to play against.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our head coach, Timmy Ryan and all other coaches for giving of their time and experience in directing the squad both in pre-season, and now as the AIL league begins to gather pace.

A special word of thanks to Robert Bogue, our Director of Rugby for placing his trust in me to Captain the men’s senior team and indeed the club this season

As Club Captain I would like to acknowledge and support the Juniors, Minors, U20’s and Ladies Senior teams in the season ahead. I have no doubt that each of these teams will give of their very best for each and every game that they compete in also.

It has been a pleasure in recent times to see many of my senior team colleagues give of their time occasionally on a Saturday morning to help coach the Mini and Youth sections.

We are particularly aware that these young lads are the future of Highfield R.F.C. and we hope to do likewise this year, schedule permitting.

I would like to think that all members and friends of the Club would turn out to support us, particularly for our home games, as a large number of supporters really does help the team to perform to the best of our ability.

Finally I would like to wish all teams in the Club a successful and injury free season, and I look forward to meeting with many of you during the season ahead.

Miah Cronin,

Club Captain
